Garage Soul, Rock n Roll

…. is the only way to describe the genre bending shimmy and sway of San Francisco’s Hot Laundry. Formed in 2017, the band wears its influences skin tight and sharp with a fresh and unique take on 60’s bad girl garage rock, deep cut old soul sounds, proto-punk infused with an extra hop of disaffected garage punk exuberance, all topped with a light rub of smoky, greasy southern swamp boogie. Their loud and proud shows have been described enthusiastically as being like seeing The Shangri-Las backed by MC5.

Lead singer Janette Lopez is all fire all the time engaging listeners with working class rock and roll stories about hard times, hard work and love, sung directly and unapologetically straight to your face while bookend sirens Ileath Bridges and Gena Serey provide back-up oohs and aahs delivered with the perfect amount of circa ‘65 picante. The music is driven by revved up guitar, fuzz bass & pounding rhythms provided by founder/guitarist/songwriter Grady Hord, bassist Casey G. and drummer Arun Bhalla.

Their most recent LP, Pawn Shop Gold is available on all streaming and downloading services and on 12 inch vinyl now available through Alternative Tentacles Records store. The LP comes after their 2021 debut EP release Shake Slide Twist. 2021 was highlighted by a blazing hot performance at John Water's Mosswood Meltdown (formerly Burger Boogaloo) The band released a video for their single "Shake" in Nov  2021. They have received numerous spins on terrestrial and internet radio in Europe, Japan and across the US. Hot Laundry receives regular rotation on Rodney Bingenheimer's show on Sirius Satellite Radio's Little Stevens Underground Garage.

Maximum Volume Music says - “Rock and Roll with attitude and a ton of energy”

RPM Online Says - “So timeless, innocent and sweet does their music sound that you could cheerfully imagine them at a chaperoned school disco, all prim and proper. That said, they’d almost certainly be the ones who spiked the punch when no-one was looking. This is pretty much solid gold”

Los Angeles Beat - "Pure fiery entertainment”.
